“Medical Education Unit”

The Medical Education Unit is intended to be educational resource centres for Medical College teachers and students. The aim of the MEUs is to bring about a continuing improvement in medical education, at the institutional and the national levels, in keeping with the changing health needs of the country.
The Medical Education Unit most important function will be to act as a meeting place where innovative educational ideas can be debated, developed and disseminated, and where educational meetings can be held to orient new teaching staff and provide updates for existing staff.
The Medical Education Unit of AMCJ was established in January 2021. It serves all aspects of the faculty development program, student academic program, and research activities of both institutions.
Requirements:
- The Medical Education unit should have trained manpower on medical education, Audio visual expert, computer operator and support staff.
- Physically they consist of office accommodation, a meeting area, and storage space.
- They should equipped with computers, printer, multimedia projectors, OHP, screen, Photocopier, scanner, video, digital camera etc. facilities and equipment for the production of educational media, as well as teaching equipment and learning materials which can be made available to teachers for use in their departments.

Vision:
- To develop Medical Education Unit of AMCJ as a house of expertise to provide quality education to the students & training of the faculty members.
Mission:
- To provide quality education with continuous improvement and updating of the educational programs as well assessment of the students
- To improve the quality of the academic staff through continuing professional development and assessment program.
- To establish a teachers academy for training of the teacher.
Aim & Objectives:
- To train the faculty members for improvement of teaching and assessment skills
- Faculty development by holding Seminars/Workshops/Conferences/CME
- To train and orient teachers about updated curriculum and assessment methods as per BMDC and University guidelines.
- To train and develop knowledge, skills and research activities required to perform the role of a competent teacher, good clinician, administrator, and researcher.
- To train and develop the teachers to acquire the competency in communication skill, behavior and use of modern information technology (IT).
- To assist the teachers to practice ethics and morality to be the mentor for the students and colleagues.
- Conduct courses for students on subjects such as communication skills, managerial skills, health ethics and behavioral science.
- Collaborate with the Centre for Medical Education, Mohakhali, Dhaka and the medical education units of other medical institutes as partners in a nation-wide effort for improvement in medical education in the country.
