Institutional Ethical Review Board (IERB)
Overview:
The Institutional Ethical Review Board (IERB) of Army Medical College Jashore is responsible for the ethical review, approval, and monitoring of all research involving human participants, biological materials, and identifiable data. The Board ensures that all research is conducted in accordance with established ethical principles, safeguarding the dignity, rights, safety, and well-being of participants.
Objectives:
- To ensure ethical conduct of all research activities
- To protect the rights, safety, and confidentiality of research participants
- To review and approve research proposals prior to initiation
- To monitor ongoing research for compliance with ethical standards
- To promote awareness and education in research ethics
Functions:
- Scientific and ethical review of research proposals
- Approval, conditional approval, or rejection of submissions
- Periodic review of ongoing research
- Ensuring proper informed consent procedures
- Addressing ethical concerns or complaints related to research
Composition:
- Chairperson: The Principal, AMCJ
- Member Secretary: Academic Co-Ordinator, AMCJ
- Members: Head of all Departments
The composition of the Board is revised periodically as per institutional requirements.
Application Process:
- Submission of research proposal
- Submission of ethical clearance application form
- Submission of informed consent form and supporting documents
- Review by IERB members
- Decision: Approval / Revision Required / Rejection
