Department of Anatomy offers 530 hours Course in 03 terms during first one and half hour of MBBS course.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

At the end of the Anatomy course, the students should be able to:

  • mention, identify, show, draw and describe the structural components of the body responsible for carrying out normal body functions;
  • use the above knowledge to understand, correlate and appreciate the other pre-clinical, para-clinical and clinical medical subjects;
  • apply the knowledge of Anatomy with the knowledge of other medical subjects to provide optimum health services in the country and abroad.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Anatomy deals with the study of structures of body. Human anatomy exposes the structures of the body and pursue their related disposition by dissections. Surface Anatomy and Radiological Anatomy with improved imaging techniques (X-ray, ultrasonography, CT Scan, MRI etc.) apply the knowledge from dissection of dead bodies to the living individuals, which has become important for clinical studies. Embryology & Genetics depicts the intra uterine development of human embryos and fetuses. It attempts to explore factors responsible for growth and differentiation of tissues and organs and causes occasional malformations. Histology deals with normal microscopic structure of organs and a sound knowledge of normal structure is essential for an understanding of Pathology. Clinical Anatomy emphasizes on the application of anatomical knowledge in clinical practice for helping clinicians for reaching correct diagnosis and applies remedial measures.

Department of Anatomy offers 530 hours course during 1st pahase (1½ years).  out of which 115 hours for lecture, 53 hours for tutorial, 52 hours for practical  (Histology)  and 310 hours for dissection and demonstration..

At the end of the Anatomy course, the students should be able to:
